My next kit is a Zaku from The Origin line, of which there have already been more than ten different variants. It’s not surprising because this is a great little Zaku with plenty of detail. There are a few annoying seamlines that are common throughout the line, so here is my take on how to fix them.

MG F91 2.0 – MAQUINA 2020 entry
Don Suratos’s MAQUINA mecha modelling competition has an out of the box category, which requires the entry not have any customisation aside from painting. For my 2020 entry I entered this custom painted MG F91 2.0. Subtly preshaded matt grey armour, contrasted against a glossy candy orange, among other metallic paints. I also tried my hand at glowing eye and camera lens effects, recreated with brushed on paint. Hope you enjoy, and I recommend you check out the other MAQUINA 2020 entries at the Don’s blog.

The Prowler is my first Ma.K kit and I was very impressed. While a very different beast to my usual Gunpla kits, I’m completely sold on WAVE’s line of models. While it was initially annoying that some of the details shown in on the box were not included (for e.g. the ankle cables), it was great fun scratch building my own replacements. I highly recommend this model for anyone who wants to try something new, and doesn’t mind putting in a bit more work (relative to gunpla anyway).
