It is complete! For now at least, I’m putting the Dijeh down to work on something else; though, I may revisit it at some point to put on some decals and some more weathering.
Review
Design
The obvious thing to note is that the Dijeh is a rather niche design, and this model recreates it faithfully, i.e. it’s bulky, round and cuddly! Bandai engineering is as always solid and this is a joy to build.
Note that I have excluded the beam rifle from this build as there is nowhere to store it on the model if not held in hand; I am exclusively using the bazooka and naginata.
Seams
There are very few seam lines on the kit itself and the few that do exist on the arms and legs are not noticable from most angles. The front and back of the head are separate pieces, but I’m not sure if this is a seam or a panel line. There are however, two guns that come with the kit and those, like with most HGs, have a seam right down the middle.
Details
The surface details are on the low side for a modern HG, however, this suits the MS well and is not a crticism. Much like the Sinanju for example, the Dijeh doesn’t need a lot of surface detail. The details that do exist look great though! The recessed areas around the skirt are especially nice.
Posing
Posing is a definite weak point for this model. The ankle articulation is limited by the (1) forward ankle guard, which will pop off if you bend the ankle upward; and (2) the sides of the bulky leg armour. For most ground poses one of the feet will not be able to stand flat. For air poses the Dijeh just looks awkward.
The segmented front skirt will prevent raising of the knee very high. The oversized belly button piece will prevent the torso from rotating very far to either side.
The arms, however, are very articulate, especially where they connect to the torso, and are great for posing. The weapons (at least the two that I’m using) detract from the articulation, however, as they are awkward to pose with. The bazooka is designed to be carried underarm, and combined with its length means you cannot aim it to the side away from the MS.
The naginata has the same problem all double sided melee weapons have: it just looks awkward in most poses and from most angles. It does look cool when only one side is activated though.
While I gripe about these issues, however, there are poses the HG Dijeh looks great in.
Verdict
I really enjoyed this build, and I recommend the HGUC Dijeh to anyone who likes the look of it.
Thanks for your time.
