My next kit is a Zaku from The Origin line, of which there have already been more than ten different variants. It’s not surprising because this is a great little Zaku with plenty of detail. There are a few annoying seamlines that are common throughout the line, so here is my take on how to fix them.

MG F91 2.0 – MAQUINA 2020 entry
Don Suratos’s MAQUINA mecha modelling competition has an out of the box category, which requires the entry not have any customisation aside from painting. For my 2020 entry I entered this custom painted MG F91 2.0. Subtly preshaded matt grey armour, contrasted against a glossy candy orange, among other metallic paints. I also tried my hand at glowing eye and camera lens effects, recreated with brushed on paint. Hope you enjoy, and I recommend you check out the other MAQUINA 2020 entries at the Don’s blog.

Alright, I’m here at the final stage for the Dijeh build. At this stage I panel lined, oil paint weathered and applied some more effects with Tamiya’s Weathering Masters set.

Alright, we’re heading into the actually interesting parts of this build. This will be my first build where, with two exceptions, everything is hand painted with lacquer paint! Now, we must remember that lacquer paints can be hazardous so throughout this process I worked outside on the balcony with an organic vapour mask strapped to my face. Safety first!
