Well here it is, quite possibly the modelling step that least excites me. Plenty of repitition is inbound dear reader, but pull through and your model will look so much better, especially the weapons. But let’s start with the shoulders.
The accursed shoulders
The damned bazooka
Here’s a fun tip: did you know you can thin putty using lacquer thinner? It makes it very easy to spread, which is perfect for … … filling the gaps along tha bazooka’s seam after you have cemented the two halves together. I’ll sand this down after 24 hours, once the putty is dry and no longer shrinking.
The doomed beam rifle
This is much the same as the bazooka. After cementing the two halves together I need to add putty to fill gaps. But, how do I smooth out the putty once it’s dry? Well the same way I smooth every flat surface. To keep it flat I wrap my sandpaper around a metal ruler, … … dip it into water (so that when I’m sanding dust doesn’t get everywhere), … … and sand away.
The hexed missile pods
The piece on the left hasn’t been cemented yet, the one on the right has. After it’s dried I file both sides down. After the first round of cleanup. There’s plenty to fix. And here I’m filling the mistakes with more putty.
Fortunately, that’s all the seams to fill on the Stark Jegan. It’s not excting, but this is an essential step in making a professional looking model.
I’d be interested in knowing if anyone has found a better way to fix the HGUC Jegan series’s shoulder seam line. Anyone?
